Get those chicken wings prepped: What could be the hottest new Super Bowl ingredient was officially announced Wednesday.
The spice company behind an iconic Maryland seafood seasoning just released its new limited-edition creation: Old Bay Hot Sauce.
This hot culinary-cum-sports snack news was first teased — where else? — on Twitter via a flurry of posts Tuesday night.
McCormick touts the $3.49 liquid version as tasting just like traditional Old Bay — with a kick of hot-wing-ready heat that “makes all kinds of food all kinds of awesome,” hypes the brand’s website
The new sauce is formulated to “warm up comfort foods, like chilis, soups and stews,” company reps say.
The condiment — which has 160 milligrams of sodium per teaspoon serving — is ready-made to douse dips, chicken wings and loaded nachos on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2, when the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will battle it out on CBS.
Not into pigskin play? Whip up a drink and warm up for the Jennifer Lopez and Shakira halftime show, because McCormick claims “a dash also adds just the right spice to bloody marys and other cocktails.”
