HOUSTON – Owner Courtney Lindsey of Houston Sauce Co. has not decided to launch a vegan food truck.
“Houston Sauce Co. she was born of too much pepper, “Lindsey said. “My friend, he had a bush of peppers and he said, ‘Hey man, come get these peppers, I don’t know what to do with them.’
Even Lindsey wasn’t quite sure what to do with them, but she accepted six pounds.
“I’m done making my first batch of hot sauce. It was super bright red, delicious and hot. I was like, I think I’m going to start making hot sauce, “Lindsey said.
Houston Sauce Co. was born, but after Lindsey and his wife became vegan, they soon changed their hot sauce company into a vegan food truck.
“I come from a culinary background, I focus on texture; I focus on the smell and more importantly the taste, ”Lindsey said.
Their hot sauce is now featured in many of their vegan dishes, including the famous fried cauliflower “caliph wings” and vegan “chicken alone”.
For those carnivores out there, their food can still be enjoyed even though it does not include meat.
“We have a lot of non-vegan people coming up to the truck and smashing some vegan food like it’s full of meat,” Lindsey said.
Houston Sauce Co. every week he announces a rotating menu for their food truck and lists his place for the week. They also have a physical building, Houpet Sauce Co. Shopette, 4300 S. Wayside Dr. from Houston, which offers take-and-go dishes.
Check out their menu and location for food trucks on their Facebook pages, Instagram and Twitter.
