If you’re hankering for a Chicken McNugget in the Pittsburgh region for the next few days, you may need to find a new dipping sauce ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Wild Card matchup against the Buffalo Bills.
Select McDonald’s restaurants in Pittsburgh are refusing to give customers Buffalo dipping sauce until after the Steelers’ game against the Bills. An owner of one of the stores boycotting the sauce spoke to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review about her decision.
“I’m shutting down the Buffalo sauce this week — just like the Black and Gold are going to stop the Bills on Sunday,” Meghan Sweeney told the media outlet.
The Pittsburgh Tribune Review also shared a post from Bubba’s Gourmet Burghers & Beer saying that Buffalo sauce and Buffalo chicken dip would be off their menu until after the game.
“You can order ANY other flavor, but we will NOT be selling Buffalo Sauce all week long!!!!” their Facebook post read.
While the boycotts seem few and far between, a few Pittsburgh businesses are looking to generate some good publicity off of their refusal to sell buffalo sauces and dips.
