Calling all lovers of hot sauce: Now is your chance to save a seat at this North Jersey restaurant’s “hot sauce dinner” — available for only one night.
The dinner will be held July 18 at Gioia Mia in Montclair in collaboration with Mike’s Pasta and Sandwich Shoppe in Nutley, New Jersey Beer Co. in North Bergen and Jersey Barnfire Hot Sauce in Sparta.
The five-course dinner menu features different hot sauces in each dish, such as crab agnolotti with a murder by Primo hot sauce for the third course, and fried ricotta beignets with a strawberry scorpion hot sauce for dessert. Each course also comes with its own beer pairing.
“Guests can expect a unique experience, as this is not your average tasting menu. The dishes are influenced by multiple cuisines, and each chef has a different background/style of cooking,” Mary Cumella, managing partner of Gioia Mia, told NJ Advance Media. “Basically, our goal is to provide our guests with a fun filled evening with great food, flavors, and beer, that they can’t get anywhere else in New Jersey.”
Even though the dinner itself is advertised as a “hot sauce dinner,” there won’t be an absurd amount of heat for those who are more cautious.
“Although the dinner is heat forward, no, the food will not be extremely spicy.” said Cumella. “Chefs Logan, John and Mike carefully curated each course, where they will use the hot sauce as an ingredient to build layers of flavor in each dish. They’re not just using hot sauce as a condiment on the plate.”
Cumella mentioned that there will be more collaboration dinners like this one in the future.
The dinner is priced at $130 per person, gratuity and alcohol included. Call 973-233-0350 to reserve a seat. The restaurant will be accepting reservations until 4 p.m. on July 9 or until sold out.
