One of my favorite movie quotes is from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", you remember don’t you? It’s that zany movie that pairs animated characters with a live action mystery story. This one ridiculously voluptuous animated character, Jessica Rabbit, is quoted as saying, “I’m not bad, I’m just drawn that way.” It always tickled me because it was the most clever way I’d ever heard someone say, “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.”
I couldn’t help thinking of Jessica’s memorable line as I posted the picture of this recipe on my social media page. It looks so unbelievably decadent, but it’s actually low in calories and so easy to make! I just talked about my quickie pasta sauce that can be easily incorporated into this dish, but high-quality, organic tomato sauce is now available at almost every store!
We are watching our sugar intake, so I opted for the simplest brand — in this case it was the Full Circle variety — and paired it with two of my favorite finds, Aidells Italian Style chicken sausage and Pasta Zero noodles. These brands definitely understand how to flip first impressions on their head with their great taste and impressive nutrition facts.
I’m really revealing how much I love a good throw-everything-in-a-skillet with this recipe, but we all need a little ease in our lives, right? I hope your family enjoys this one as much as ours did.

ICYMI: Get dinner out of a jam
Ingredients (makes 3-4 portions)
2 bags Shiritaki noodles (Pasta Zero)
1 jar organic tomato basil pasta sauce (Full Circle)
1 package Italian chicken sausage (Aidells)
2 cloves garlic
Cooking spray
1 handful fresh Italian parsley
Parmesan cheese to garnish
Directions
Remove casing from sausage and chop into small pieces.
On medium heat, warm a large skillet and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
Add sausage and use a wooden spoon to break up pieces as they cook.
Meanwhile, rinse noodles until water in a colander - they have an odd smell until they’re fully rinsed, allow to drain.
Once sausage is cooked through, add garlic and cook until fragrant.
Add pasta sauce and stir until warmed through.
Remove from heat and add noodles.
Gently toss the noodles in the sauce — I find a large spoon and tongs are both required.
Divide among plates and garnish with fresh parsley and a little Parmesan.
Voila!
