When most people think of their favorite wing sauce, they think of something in a glass jar that you'd purchase at a grocery store. While it may be easy just to grab a bottle and use it at home, there's a another simple way to make buffalo wing sauce. No, you don't need to be some skilled cook or wizard in the kitchen to make it. All you need to do is grab four ingredients from the store, cook for just a few minutes, and voila — you have homemade wing sauce that tastes far better than store-bought.
Recipe developer Susan Olayinka of The Flexible Fridge came up with this recipe that you'll want to bookmark. "I love how quick and easy [this sauce] is to make," Olayinka raves. "Literally in just a couple of minutes, you gave a great sauce to coat your wings or to add to any dish. Hot sauce and butter are a match made in heaven, and the simple combination of those two ingredients takes wings to the next level!" But what's limiting you to wings? Use this sauce on a sandwich, or make buffalo cauliflower bites — there's no limit with a sauce this good.
Gather the ingredients for this buffalo wing sauce
The first thing you need to do is make a list of ingredients. This simple recipe requires hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and unsalted butter. Once you have those four ingredients, you can make this buffalo wing sauce.
Start by melting the butter
This recipe is super simple, and you can enjoy your homemade buffalo wing sauce in three steps. Start by taking out a saucepan and placing it on your stove over medium heat, then adding in the butter. Once that begins to melt down, add in the apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce.
Stir in the hot sauce
With the butter melted down, go ahead and pour in the hot sauce. Stir it all together and let the sauce cook for 2 to 3 minutes, and be wary of overdoing it. "Be careful not to overcook the sauce, as you don't want the butter to start burning," Olayinka shares.
Remove from heat and serve
Remove the sauce from heat and transfer it from the saucepan to whatever serving dish or container you'd like to use. This sauce goes well with plenty of things, and Olayinka shares a few of her favorite ways to use it. "I love to use this sauce on chicken wings, but it would be great on so many other things like chicken breasts, thighs, or even mixed into a dish like mac and cheese," she suggests. As for leftovers, be sure to hold on to them: "This can be kept in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks," Olayinka notes.
