We Tried Megan Thee Stallion's Hottie Sauce at Popeyes - Houstonia Magazine

Hottie Sauce made its debut at the famous Louisiana Kitchen on October 19, with lines in Houston wrapped around the building of fans waiting to try the restaurant’s latest creation. Recalling Popeye’s 2019 phenomenon with their notorious chicken sandwich craze, it makes perfect sense that the brand partnered with the self-proclaimed Houston Hottie.  As a fan of both Popeyes and Megan Thee Stallion, I knew I was in for a treat一because if it was anything like Megan, it’s likely to be hot. The rapper herself tasted the sauce in a mukbang on her Youtube channel, describing it as “it got a little kick on it.”

Upon arriving at Popeyes, you’re greeted with signage advertising the new collaboration. I ordered an eight-piece chicken nuggets meal and politely asked for the Hottie Sauce with a grin. Before leaving the drive-through, I grabbed the Sweet Heat sauce, as it’s my favorite (and I needed a backup just in case the Hottie Sauce didn’t pan out.

Once I got home, I was eager to taste the new sensation. The chicken nuggets were one of the latest additions to the menu, and left me fascinated: why weren’t chicken nuggets ever offered before now? The Hottie Sauce is bright orange, with Aleppo pepper sprinkled throughout. The sauce made with honey and apple cider vinegar, was both sweet and spicy; offering a delay in its kick, much like Megan describes. I found that the flavor was great, but underwhelming一the taste was instantly reminiscent of Sweet Heat.

The two were nearly identical in taste, except that Hottie Sauce was a more toned down, sweeter version of the restaurant's signature sauce. Side by side, the two sauces were indistinguishable.

Although Megan is known to be a fierce rapper, her interests also lie in community outreach, so her partnership with Popeyes didn’t just include delicious sauce. The collaboration made Megan Thee Stallion a franchise owner and included co-branded merchandise, such as cropped tee shirts and chicken nugget plush toys. , as well as In addition, a six-figure donation from the Grammy Award-winning rapper alongside Popeyes was made, to the local nonprofit organization, Houston Random Acts of Kindness.
