Hottie Sauce currently comes with the infamous chicken sandwich and Popeyes chicken nuggets (when did they start making nuggets?). We got both, for science.
The sauce, described as a sweet and spicy dip made with honey, cider vinegar and Aleppo peppers, looks eerily similar to Chick-fil-A's Polynesian sauce with a few pepper flakes added.
I was skeptical. But this sauce hit as hard as a Megan verse.
It starts out sweet before the spice kicks in a couple seconds later. As I've previously established, my spice tolerance is low. But this sauce was a warm and welcoming blanket of honey and heat without suffocating me. (Also: Popeyes chicken nuggets are shockingly good??)
And yes, it does resemble a spicy Polynesian sauce, but that was far from a bad thing. My only critique was that the sandwich needed more sauce, but that was solved by dunking it in one of our provided sauce cups.
We brought back nuggets and Hottie Sauce for the rest of the Chron team to try, and we really do want the recipe for this hot s---.
