John Barrowman apologizes for “exuberant behavior,” aka exposing himself - Winter is Coming

sambilsambel.blogspot.com

Not long ago, Doctor Who star Noel Clarke (Mickey Smith) was accused of inappropriate behavior on the set of the show. That brought up a lot of older allegations made against John Barrowman (Captain Jack Harkness) over the years.

Put simply, the guy has a long history of taking it out when it should be left in. Two women alleged in The Guardian that the actor exposed himself “on a regular basis” behind the scenes. “He’d just sort of have his balls hanging out his trousers or something, which he just thought was really funny,” said another crew member. Another said that Barrowman would “have his willy out, standing in the doorway…it was kind of accepted that it was his thing.” It made the employee “really uncomfortable,” because yeah.

This kind of thing happened on the Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood too. Someone filed a complaint against him in 2008. “I met with John and reprimanded him,” said producer Julie Gardner. “[I made] it clear to both John and his agent that behaviour of this kind would not be tolerated…To my knowledge, John’s inappropriate behaviour stopped thereafter.”

Barrowman apologized for this behavior in November 2008 after a BBC Radio 1 interview where he pulled down his pants. “I apologise for any offence I have caused,” he said at the time. “I was joining in the light-hearted and fun banter of the show, and went too far.”

Doctor Who star John Barrowman (Captain Jack) issues new apology

With all this getting stirred up again, Barrowman is defending himself anew. According to Digital Spy, his lawyers claimed that he did “not recall” the incidents in question. At the same time, the actor issued an apology for his “high-spirited behaviour,” which he said was “only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage.”

With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour and I have apologised for this previously. Since my apology in November 2008, my understanding and behaviour have also changed.

Seems like a wee bit of a passive-aggressive apology. We’ll see if this affects his future with the Doctor Who franchise.
