What’s Ohio’s favorite chicken-wing sauce-seasoning? - cleveland.com

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Last month the folks at grillcookbake.com were out with their state-by-state list of favorite light beers. Now they are surveying chicken-wing sauce and seasonings and types of chicken.

Timed for National Chicken Wing Day today - Wednesday, July 29 - respondents were asked to give their preference from a list of 16 sauces or seasonings.

The cooking-products review site found no clear winner, but honey barbecue gets the nod as the favorite in 14 states, including Ohio.

Hot buffalo sauce was next at nine states, and Parmesan garlic tallied as the favorite in seven. Other votes weighed in for spicy garlic, lemon pepper, sweet barbecue, teriyaki, salt and vinegar, honey mustard and Caribbean jerk.

When it came to preferred wing type - traditional bone-in or boneless - Ohio was in the minority: Bone-in is preferred in 36 states, with boneless the favorite in 14.

And in a head-to-head matchup between ranch or blue cheese, 40 states - including Ohio - prefer ranch.
