Over the weekend, three signs at St. Luke’s McCall were vandalized.
One sign had a large swastika painted over the St. Luke’s McCall logo.
“This act is incredibly troubling,” St. Luke’s McCall, Chief Operating and Nursing Officer Amber Green said in an email. “We know that this hateful act does not reflect the community where we live and serve. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement so whoever is responsible is held accountable.”
The city responds
The City of McCall put out a statement this morning regarding the vandalism, saying they were ‘outraged.’
“McCall is a small community made up of neighbors that work and volunteer at our local hospital,” the statement said. “Our community and its families are touched daily by the good deeds and care from our friends and colleagues at St. Luke’s McCall. Now more than ever, they need our support and respect.”
The statement continued and talked about how community opinions on politics may differ, but the city is ‘better together.’
“This is totally unacceptable behavior and is not a representation of what our community stands for,” Mayor Bob Giles said in the statement. “I am saddened that such a hateful act has happened in our precious town. We are better than this. The St. Luke’s institution is working overtime to keep us safe and protected. I want all of our healthcare workers to know that their city leaders are behind them and see them as valued partners.”
McCall St. Lukes told BoiseDev they removed the vandalism yesterday and the damage did not cost the hospital other than staff time to clean up.
The city confirmed there is an active investigation underway. They ask that anyone who has information, report it to the McCall Police Department by phone at 208-634-7144, email [email protected]mccall.id.us or send the department a Facebook message.
