To Provide a Safe Environment for Patients and Staff, COVID-19 and Other Policies Must be Followed

Vermont Business Magazine The University of Vermont Medical Center is committed to providing high quality care, and our number one priority is the safety of our patients, families and staff. This week, hospital leaders are reminding our community that in order to maintain a safe environment, we need everyone who comes through our doors to respect all hospital policies, including those related to COVID-19 and general behavior – and importantly, reminding all patients and visitors to respect our incredibly hardworking staff as they provide life-saving care.

COVID-19: Families and support people are vital to our patients while they are healing. As the pandemic has evolved, we have continued to adapt our welcoming policy. For full details, visit: Visiting Hours (uvmhealth.org).

·       Masks must be worn at all times when inside hospital facilities. This includes visitors who are sleeping while staying overnight.

·       If you have tested positive for COVID-19, do not visit unless you are visiting someone in beginning or end-of-life care and it has been cleared by the patient’s care team.

Safety and behavior: Our teams are working extremely hard to care for our community during a challenging time, and they need to be supported and respected. In order to ensure a safe environment, patients and visitors must follow all directions from staff.

  • Please use respectful language while in the hospital. Abusive language or threats will not be tolerated.
  • For everyone’s safety, weapons, alcohol, illegal drugs and other dangerous items are prohibited.
  • Items may be returned to your vehicle or possibly held by security. Thank you for helping us ensure we are able to provide life-saving care in a safe environment.
