I didn’t know that I was participating in a great diaspora of imagination when I was a teenage science-fiction reader. That was the late 50′s and 60′s, and movies are still being made from books written then.
One of the concepts I particularly enjoyed was alternate reality or alternate history—the question being, “what if”. Today I watch MSNBC and the idea of “alternate reality” is apparently no longer science fiction. It is a reality of unreality that boggles the mind and inflames the senses.
Our politicians live in a bubble that does not include responsibility to their constituents, except in the case of Republicans, who actually suborn democracy in their quest for popular support.
The behavior of the Trump administration during transition has sunk to new lows, lows not imagined in any science-fiction saga.
