Jakarta: President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo attended the Health Ministry's National Work Meeting at International Convention Exhibition (ICE), Tangerang, Banten on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.
The former Jakarta governor instructed Health Ministry officials to address childhood stunting and women's wellbeing. He underlined that related agencies should improve health services.
"In 2017, childhood stunting reached 37 percent. Due to your hard work, it was down to 30 percent," President Jokowi said.Indonesia's poverty rate stood at 9.66 percent in September 2018. It decreased by 0.46 percentage point compared to September 2017.
The number of poor in Indonesia stood at 25.67 million people in September 2018. It decreased by 0.91 million people compared to September 2017.
"If we cannot reduce childhood stunting, we cannot improve our competitiveness," President Jokowi said.
