I agree 100 percent with Roger Heard's family and attorneys that confronting Mr. Heard in the parking lot of a busy public venue by CPD was beyond reckless. That was my first feeling upon seeing the story when it happened.
In the video you can see a man pumping gas behind the officer that confronted Heard, having to scurry for cover as the gun fire erupts.
DA Wamp or anyone else that tries to defend the decision to create that situation are wrong. They knew he had a potential to be violent. He could have been followed to a much safer location.
Concerning the number of shots fired, if you fire upon a police officer I do not know what else you would expect.
Considering that Mr. Heard was a changed man is very difficult when we are told he was in possession of a large amount of cash, a pound of marijuana and a stolen pistol. Behavior that cannot be defended on both sides.
