Sauce Gardner, Breece Hall react to Aaron Rodgers' Jets intentions - New York Post

There must have been some magic in that burning cheesehead after all.

Moments after Aaron Rodgers announced his intentions to play for the Jets on Wednesday, several members of the team took to Twitter to celebrate, including running back Breece Hall and cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner.

“Parade inside da city,” the 21-year-old Hall tweeted alongside a collection of crying face emojis.

Elsewhere on the platform, the 22-year-old Gardner quipped how setting his cheesehead hat on fire in a YouTube video last week did the trick.

“This is the video that did it y’all,” the Defensive Rookie of the Year posted.

Although Gardner and Hall kicked off the festivities earlier this week, when Trey Wingo reported Rodgers’ move to the Jets was “done,” the Packers quarterback clarified his plans Wednesday on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

“Since Friday I made it clear that my intention was to play and my intention was to play for the New York Jets,” Rodgers said.

“I haven’t been holding anything up at this point it’s been compensation that the Packers are trying to get for me, kind of digging their heels in, I think it is interesting at this point to step back and look at the whole picture.”

Rodgers has spent the entire 18 years of his NFL career in Green Bay to this point.

The Packers are reportedly seeking multiple first-round picks for Rodgers’ services.

The Jets have been looking to acquire a veteran quarterback this offseason following Zach Wilson’s struggles in his second year.

Jets brass, including owner Woody Johnson and owner Robert Saleh, traveled to Malibu earlier this month to meet with Rodgers.

Rodgers said Wednesday the both parties “had a nice conversation.”

“I still have that fire and I want to play and I would like to play in New York,” the quarterback added.

It’s evident Hall and Gardner would like to play with Rodgers as well.
