Little Caesars is widely known for providing "hot and ready" pizza that customers can grab-and-go at an affordable price. The pizza chain — which opened its first location in Warren, Michigan in 1962 — consists of over 5,000 locations throughout the country. Now, one employee is pulling back the curtains to show the surprising way the sauce is reportedly made, thanks to a viral video.
In a TikTok video posted by @tye._.pearson, there is an image of sauce containers lined up on the floor with the caption, "making sauce at little caesars." The TikToker then poured in a spice blend, along with tomato sauce, and mixed with [what looks to be] a power drill.
TikTokers stand divided with some explaining that this is how things work in the restaurant business. Others, however, took issue with the method. "My thing is, why are you guys using a drill," @blissful.bohemian wrote.
@tye._.pearson responded by saying "work smarter not harder," to one comment, then, "it takes people who use a whisk forever it took me 20 minutes," to another.
Sone responded by noting the sanitation issue. "I used to work for one, we NEVER put containers on the floor. The Health Dept. would have a field day," @adamschiferl said.
"Having food on the floor like that is a health code violation," @mmdrein wrote. "that's not me being a little baby, that's just a fact. praying you don't get fired dude."
With the sauce video successfully dividing the internet, the poster added another video showing how the dough is made. "When you pour the contents in the big pan, the outside of the white one looks not too good," said @vicdmac29.
"I think the person making this gross is the one making it," @booksandpatience said. "First sauce prep on the ground, now dough with dirty appliances."
The Daily Dot previously reported that the user — formerly known as T.Y.E — posted the original version of the video in June, quickly gaining traction. In two days, the TikToker uploaded five videos in total, with the Little Caesars clip going viral almost immediately. All the attention allegedly got @tye._.pearson fired and the videos disappeared — until now.
The outlet added there was another (now-deleted) video that showed the user setting the Little Caesars uniform on fire after he was let go.
The sauce video currently has nearly 16 million views and over 25,000 comments in the repost, allowing new viewers to weigh in for the first time.
