Pa. pizza shop robber whacks worker on head with sauce ladle - pennlive.com

A late-night pizza robbery turned violent when one of the suspects whacked a pizza shop worker on the head with a sauce ladle.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, as Pittsburgh police were called to Vocelli Pizza on the 4200 block of Murray Avenue.

As KDKA-TV reports, a male employee at the shop told police he was in the process of locking the store when two men approached from behind, forced him back inside, and then struck him over the head with a pizza sauce ladle.

The suspects then took off with the entire cash register. There was no immediate word on how much cash was inside.

The shop worker wasn’t seriously injured.

The police investigation continues.
