T-N-T Wieners, under new ownership, will launch a delta-8 THC hot dog menu - Sauce Magazine

Delmar Loop hot dog shop T-N-T Wieners (6301 Delmar Blvd.) has been sold and will reopen with co-owners Jamal Lewis (previously of Fried) and Amber Rodgers running the show. Lewis said his new menu will officially drop on July 1, and will have some interesting updates. “We’ll have five or six new hot dogs. We’re adding the delta-8 THC, and that is derived from the hemp plant, which makes it legal,” he said. Lewis went on to explain that he aims to offer hot dogs injected with delta-8 THC, as well as delta-8 sauces, drinks and more.

Lewis said he’s been working with Dr. Zinia Thomas, a local holistic doctor who he said has “probably signed up more patients for medical marijuana cards than anybody in Missouri.” A few St. Louis restaurants currently offer CBD menu items, but T-N-T Wieners may be the first with freshly prepared food featuring delta-8. “They have this nano-emulsifier machine that breaks the THC down to where it’s water-soluble. You can infuse it into anything,” Lewis explained. “It’s psychoactive, so you will get a buzz from eating the food. We’ve been putting it in drinks and sauces.”

Lewis’ menu will be helmed by chef Carl Lipsey of Open Flame Catering. At T-N-T, Lipsey will craft a line of gourmet hot dogs that will be customizable with different kinds of sauces and amounts of delta-8. Lewis looks to include dogs like the U. City Philly Steak Dog, the BBQ Texas Brisket Dog, a Southwest Dog and an Asian-inspired hot dog with apple-ginger slaw.

For those worried about getting too lit from their meal, Lewis points out that the delta-8 distribution will be highly monitored. “The dosage will be consistent with the sauce and the hot dog,” he said. “I would start off with 5 milligrams in the hot dog, and then my sauces - they can just add on more sauces to add more delta-8.” Customers looking to increase the amount of delta-8 they’re ingesting can add more sauces to their hot dogs. “Let’s say you have four sauces on your hot dog and you want two extra servings of delta-8 – it’ll be split up into 5-milligram containers. That way you’ll know what your healthy dosage is,” Lewis said.

T-N-T will have plant-based options, from a veggie dog to vegan chili, and will also offer gluten-free buns. Lewis said he’s working on getting a liquor license.

T-N-T Wieners will be open at first for five days a week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., but eventually will operate seven days a week and be open later to accommodate the post-concert, late-night crowd. A grand opening party is planned for July 3.
