It’s easy to get all fired up on Hot Sauce Day.
Are your taste buds ready to celebrate on January 22? Hot sauce is so flavorful that just a little dab will do ya!
When you think of hot sauce, what brand immediately comes to mind? TABASCO of course! The TABASCO company was founded by Edmund Mcllhenny in 1868 on Avery Island, Louisiana. He grew Capsicum Frutescens peppers (Tabasco peppers) in his garden.
The company continues to operate on the island and is still family-owned. Mcllhenny originally packaged his sauce in small cologne bottles and the shape of the bottle has not changed much since then. According to Southern Living, each bottle contains 720 drops of hot sauce. The shape of the bottle encourages sprinkling the sauce over food, rather than pouring.
What if you are new to the hot sauce world and you are not ready for firecracker flavor? The folks at TABASCO recommend trying their Sweet and Spicy Sauce. It’s super versatile and makes a wonderful dipping sauce (especially for fried foods) or a tasty glaze for meats. The flavor is subtly sweet with notes of ginger and rich spices.
If you are a hot sauce aficionado and want to try lots of different sauces on Hot Sauce Day, you’ll be pleased to know that TABASCO offers several varieties of hot sauces: original red, green jalapeño, chipotle, cayenne garlic, habanero, scorpion spice, sriracha and buffalo style.
Looking for recipes to get you out of your winter funk? Check out the TABASCO website and you’ll be amazed at the variety of spicy hometown and international recipes available there.
We southerns will go bonkers about Spicy Cane Syrup Butter served over hot corn bread. Oh My Aunt Matilda…does this sound so good! A little TABASCO Chipoltle Sauce mixed with cane syrup, creamery butter and salt. So good as a glaze for grilled and roasted meats too.
Have you tried making fried deviled eggs? Super delicious made even better with TABASCO. Just in time for the Super Big Game in February! Three Layer Chipoltle Bean Dip, Sriracha Caramel Popcorn and Bloody Mary Shrimp Dip too.
What’s your favorite flavor of hot sauce? How are you planning to spice things up on Hot Sauce Day?
