Best Orange Raisin Sauce Recipe For Ham - Parade

While most of us are still planning and finalizing those Thanksgiving menus, some already have it set it stone, and we have moved to thinking about our Christmas meal. For our family, there are many dishes that overlap the two holidays. Mom’s pumpkin pie is a must, mashed potatoes are a staple and green bean casserole can show up on either table. But no matter what, if there is a big, beautiful glazed ham on the table, this Orange Raisin Sauce will be right beside it. It’s a family tradition, passed down from my grandparents, to my dad, and now to me.

What is Orange Raisin Sauce?

Orange Raisin Sauce isn’t just a condiment or dipping sauce in our family, it’s a must-have addition to any ham dinner. The mixture of citrus flavor and clove scream holiday and truly enhance the delicious factor of any ham. It hits all the sweet and savory notes at the same time, making you crave it even more.

Another terrific thing about this delicious sauce is the ability to make it ahead of time. I always make it the day before or even a couple days before the holiday. Simply allow it to cool completely, cover and pop it in the fridge until you are ready for it. You can reheat it on the stove-top over low heat, or even nuke it in the microwave. Since it tends to get thicker and thicker as it cools, you might have to add a splash of water or even extra orange juice to thin it back out to the perfect dipping consistency.

If there is a holiday ham in your future, Orange Raisin Sauce might just be the little something extra you’ve been looking for. I am happy to share such a time-honored holiday tradition in our family with all of you!
