Eminem's Mom's Spaghetti Pasta Sauce sells out within hours: How you can still get it - Detroit Free Press

Mom's Spaghetti Pasta Sauce just launched and sold out quickly.

Last week, Detroit rapper Eminem announced on Instagram that jars of his Mom's Spaghetti Pasta Sauce would launch through the Mom's Spaghetti website.

When the sauce popped up on the website last Thursday for orders, the sauce quickly sold out within hours, said Curt Catallo, co-owner of Union Joints restaurant group and partner in the sauce and the Mom's Spaghetti joint inside the group's Union Assembly restaurant downtown on Woodward.

Mom's Spaghetti also got a shoutout during last night's ABC/ESPN "Monday Night Football" broadcast talking about Eminem's restaurant and meatballs, according to si.com.

Announcers Joe Buck and Troy Aikman chatted about the spot, with a video of the place and the food, talking about the Lions' game against the Dallas Cowboys later this season on the network. Buck and Aikman shared a desire to meet Eminem for that game, and Aikman especially had a desire for something else, too.

"That looks fantastic," Aikman said. "Anyone who knows me knows that I've never had a meatball that I didn't like," Troy Aikman said on the broadcast.

Like the Mom's Spaghetti walk-in window attached to the Union Assembly restaurant, the pasta sauce is a partnership with the Detroit Rapper, his manager Paul Rosenberg, and Union Joints restaurant group.

“This has been quite an exciting past few years in pasta,” Paul Rosenberg said in a press release. “It all began in an experimental pop-up shop around the release of the 'Revival' album in 2017. The initial feedback was incredible so we decided to take it on the road during Em’s 2019 festival run, and that all led up to the opening of Mom’s Spaghetti in Detroit. The massive response to the restaurant made us realize that there’s a market out there for our sauce, so we spent the last year working on how we could get it to people without having to come all the way to Detroit.”

While jars of the sauce are sold out online, Catallo said, there are still some jars of the sauce available.

"We brought 500 jars down to the trailer, Eminem's retail storefront on site," Catallo said.Mom's Spaghetti Pasta Sauce is sold in 25-ounce jars for $13 each or two for $25."We developed this sauce, Mom's spaghetti and the Sghetti sandwich," Catallo of Union Joints said. "We started having fun with it and seeing where it will take us ever since."

The Mom's Spaghetti concept originally launched as an experimental pop-up at the Shelter in Detroit. The brand's concept is centered on the Detroit rapper's lyrics from "Lose Yourself."

The pop-up eventually led to the permanent, brick-and-mortar location of Mom's Spaghetti walk-up window at Union Assembly, a multi-level restaurant overlooking Woodward Ave. Above Mom's Spaghetti walk-up window is The Trailer. This retail space is a nod to B. Rabbit's trailer from 8 Mile. It's where you can buy Eminem retail items and pasta sauce.

"The response has been so bananas we are going to have to figure out a way to make more sauce because it’s a damn good sauce," Catallo said.

Union Joints owns multiple longstanding suburban restaurant hotspots Clarkston Union, Union Woodshop, Vinsetta Garage, Fenton Fire Hall and others.
