IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - Iowa sophomore tight end Josiah Miamen was arrested early Sunday morning for violent behavior at a bar and running from police.
The 19-year-old from Peoria, Illinois is also charged with possession of a fake ID, knowingly entering a bar underage and public intoxication.
According to police records, Miamen was blocking the doorway at El Ray's bar on Iowa Avenue when staff told him to leave. He refused to do so and attempted to punch a door attendant.
Police on scene told Miamen to stop but he ran away. He was arrested after a brief foot chase. During a search, police found a fake Minnesota driver's license.
He is facing five charges including disorderly conduct (fighting) and interference with official acts. Miamen has not played in a game for the Hawkeyes in his short career.
Miamen is no longer being held at the Johnson County jail. Court records show his initial court appearance was waived but his case is being held open for further review.
