HOUSTON – From TikTok to the table, the sensation Pink Sauce is now available in over 4,300 Walmart store locations and online.
The sauce is described as sweet, tangy and full of spices, according to Walmart’s website. Vegan and gluten-free versions of the sauce will be available as well.
Chief Pii featured her creation of the very pink, Pepto Bismol-colored sauce on social media in the summer of 2022, which went viral.
As more people grew interested in the sauce, criticism also grew.
Consumers questioned the chef’s nutritional label, price, and how some buyers received the sauce after being shipped in paper bags.
In July, one Twitter user said, “I looked up the Pink Sauce and the way it just runs out the bottle everywhere….. NO. NO. And milk and shipping in the heat. NO.”
Several months later, Chef Pii partnered with Dave’s Gourmet to help bring her pink product to “the commercial market.” The company addressed the criticism, stating how the creator had a lack of commercial food production knowledge, which led to significant obstacles. The production for the sauce was eventually paused, which left a lot of customers waiting for their product with no immediate solution to satisfy the overwhelming demand for her Pink Sauce the past summer, according to a release.
While some consumers are still skeptical, others are excited about the collaborations with Walmart.
One verified Twitter user said, “Super sidebar, I’m really happy for the pink sauce girl! I’m not super hip to everything but I do remember her getting a lot of hate/negativity and I’m happy she didn’t allow that to stop her! Now her sauce is in stores which is so cool!”
Chef Pii recently posted to her social media accounts to share the exciting news, stating, “Pink Sauce is just beginning to land at Walmart locations and on Walmart.com across the US. Keep checking Walmart.com because Pink Sauce will be available near you soon!”
For those who are still on the fence, Dave’s Gourmet stated, “The sauce is manufactured under FDA guidelines in an SQF-certified facility and is shelf-stable.”
